Workshop Description

“Poetry & Prose on the Prairie” is a writing workshop for writers at all levels led by Charity Singleton Craig from 9-3 on Saturday, September 7, 2019, in the Coneflower Shelter of Prophetstown State Park. The workshop will include sessions on observing nature; naming and cataloguing flora, fauna, weather, and geologic features through research; drawing from personal memories; and integrating their own lives and experiences with the natural world to create inviting poetry and prose.

Charity Singleton Craig is an author, journalist, and essayist. She is the author of The Art of the Essay: From Ordinary Life to Extraordinary Words (T.S. Poetry Press, 2019), a contributor to The Wonder Years: 40 Women over 40 on Aging, Faith, Beauty, and Strength, the author of My Year in Words: what I learned from choosing one word a week for one year, and coauthor of On Being a Writer: 12 Simple Habits for a Writing Life That Lasts. She writes regularly for various publications, including Edible Indy and In Touch Magazine. Her work also has been featured at Christianity Today Women, Tweetspeak Poetry, The Write Life, and Grubstreet Daily. She lives with her husband and three stepsons in central Indiana.
